Overview of the Cultural Mentorship Program
Since 2012, the Carmelle and Rémi Marcoux Chair in Arts Management has managed a Cultural Mentorship program with the support of the Conférence régionale des élus de Montréal. The mandate of the program is to “provide arts and cultural managers with an opportunity to benefit from the transfer of experience through a mentor.”
The primary objective of the program is not a transfer of know-how, professional consultation or direct access to expertise, but the sharing of experience. It is a voluntary program enabling managers with at least three years’ professional experience to benefit from the knowledge that mentors are willing to share. The sole aim of mentors is to help mentees gain competence quickly with minimal risk and cost to themselves and their organization.
