Our graduate programs

Since the launch in 1988 of the diplôme d’études supérieures spécialisées (DESS) en gestion d’organismes culturels (Graduate Diploma in Management of Cultural Organizations), HEC Montréal has played a key role in the professionalization of cultural management.

In response to a request by its students and graduates, HEC Montréal launched (in line with the Graduate Diploma in Management of Cultural Organizations) three other programs:

  • A microprogram in Management of Cultural Organizations for the arts managers who are looking for a short program;
  • A Master in Management of Cultural Enterprises (MMEC), an increasingly sought-after graduate degree;
  • A PhD in Administration that includes a Marketing and Management in the Arts, Cultural Industries and Media track.

In collaboration with its partners SMU in Dallas, SDA Bocconi in Milan, Los Andes University School of Management in Bogotá and Peking University in Beijing, HEC Montréal launched in 2012 the Master of Management in International Arts Management (MMIAM). In this one-year program offered in English, students travel from one campus to another, visiting 10 cultural cities in 6 countries (USA, Canada, Colombia, India, China and Italy) and meeting with arts managers among the best in the field.
